A few months back my girlfriend and I started the Daniel’s Diet. You know the one that the church started and all of the preachers tried to start early enough so that it would not interfere with the Super Bowl parties and gathers. I mean who knew the Atlanta Falcons were going to make it to the Super Bowl. Maybe the preachers in the Bible Beltway prayed for them. But then what would that make Tom Brady and Bill Belichick and the Patroits. I digress. Where was I, yes no meat for 21 days straight. We started the diet and I must admit for a person who loves steak, chicken, and fish like the next man/woman it was hard to do at first. However we both stuck to it. Now to give my girlfriend credit she was already a fitness and healthy living expert, I was the devil’s advocate in the relationship. All 5’9’’ 240 pounds of me. Hey don’t judge her. Over the next 21 days of oatmeal mornings, protein shake lunches, vegetables only dinners and about 1 ½ miles on the track and tread mill daily and oh did I mention we tried tofu (two words: nev er) I had lost 17 pounds and a gone down a few pants sizes. Since the diet I have continued some of the guidelines of the Daniel’s diet but to say I have completely given up beef, steak, and chicken…have they closed all of the Chipotles in America. The diet worked and my girlfriend and I enjoy the results but 21 days for 18 pounds I don’t think I can do it again. Well perhaps next year during the same time. Maybe I can call some of the preachers in the Bible Beltway and see if we can start the diet early or later which ever time frame get our Beloved Atlanta Falcons a title. Question: Is dieting more of a mental or physical adjustment? What diet has worked for you?
